On April 28, 2023, the Guangdong-Macao Intellectual Property Rights Protection Training Course was successfully held at the MUST Library. The training was co-organized by Zhuhai MUST Science and Technology Research Institute, Macao Intellectual Property Service Center of MUST, Hengqin International Intellectual Property Exchange Center Co., Ltd., Intellectual Property Comprehensive Operation Service Center of Hengqin Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone, and National Intellectual Property Training (Guangdong) Base, under the guidance of the Economic Development Bureau of Hengqin Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone. More than 30 distinguished guests attended, including Vice President Ringo Tang of MUST, Ms. Zhao Wingying, Mr. Lu Zhipeng, Ms. Liang Lishan and Ms. Guan Xiaojing. Guest speakers Ms. Wang Miao, Ms. Jiang Limei and Mr. Yu Zhengxu led discussions on IP-related issues between Guangdong and Macao with nearly 200 participants, promoting innovation-driven development of Hengqin and Macao.

Training Scene
Before the training, Vice President Ringo Tang of MUST briefly introduced the objectives of the course and the significance of intellectual property for the innovative development of Hengqin and Macao. He noted that intellectual property is a core element of international competitiveness and innovative development in today’s world. He emphasized the need to protect intellectual property, safeguard the rights and interests of knowledge innovation, strengthen legal protection of IP, establish basic systems supporting comprehensive innovation, and improve the IP management system. MUST has always focused on the theoretical and practical research of intellectual property, taken IP protection as one of its strategic development directions, and actively carried out a series of related research, aiming to make greater contributions to IP protection and innovative development in Macao and the entire Greater Bay Area.

During the training, Ms. Wang Miao delivered a session on Challenges and Opportunities of Intellectual Property Litigation under Interdisciplinary Integration, covering interdisciplinary issues, challenges, opportunities, and case analysis. Ms. Jiang Limei focused on Trademark Protection in Cross-border E-commerce, sharing three key topics: parallel imports, overseas trademark layout, and customs trademark protection. Finally, Mr. Yu Zhengxu introduced cross-border IP pledge financing policies and related banking products in Guangdong and Macao.

This training course aims to implement the work requirements of the Guidelines of the National Intellectual Property Administration on Further Strengthening Intellectual Property Rights Protection Assistance.
Through Guangdong-Macao collaboration, it explored IP enforcement from multiple perspectives, highlighted the differences between Macao and mainland systems, and enhanced participants’ global vision.
It further improved IP enforcement capabilities in Hengqin, Macao and the Greater Bay Area, while strengthening awareness of IP creation, utilization and protection.
