IP Drives Innovation: MUST to Host a Series of Intellectual Property Week Activities

To further enhance faculty and students’ IP awareness and innovation capabilities, and in response to the State Intellectual Property Office’s National Intellectual Property Publicity Week themed "Intellectual Property and Healthy China", MUST’s Macau Intellectual Property Service Centre will co-host 2020 IP Week activities with Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s Intellectual Property Information Service Centre around the 20th World Intellectual Property Day, providing IP information and training for MUST faculty, students and Macau innovators.

The activities will include IP micro-courses (on patent retrieval, database usage, etc.) and two online special training sessions on April 20 and 23. See the schedule below — all faculty and students are welcome!

IP Academy Session 1: How to Turn Research Achievements into Intellectual Property

Content: Current status and trends of university IP protection; research achievement protection strategies; mining high-value patents from papers; developing excellent designs into industrial designs.

Speaker: Li JinLibrarian & staff of Macau Intellectual Property Service Centre, former pharmaceutical and biological patent examiner at the State Intellectual Property Office. She has provided IP training and solutions for leading enterprises (Huawei, ZTE, Tencent, Midea, Hengrui, etc.) and top universities (Tsinghua University, Sun Yat-sen University, etc.), and offers IP strategic consulting for startups and foreign trade enterprises. She has extensive practical experience in IP strategy formulation, IP management, and patent drafting & responses.

About the Speaker: Zhang Yonghua, Partner at Global Law Office (Beijing). He focuses on IP management and risk prevention, IP litigation, antitrust and related legal services. He worked 18 years at the Department of Treaty and Law, CNIPA, as Director of the First Division of Treaty and Law. He has long been a trainer for new patent examiners, part-time teacher for national civil servants, and off-campus supervisor for MPA students. He is a CNIPA high-level and leading IP talent, one of the first public lawyers of CNIPA, and one of the first Outstanding Young Professionals in the national IP system.
