Speech by Vice President Prof. Kwong Ying Wa of MUST

After the unveiling ceremony, Director Cheng Xiaomin noted that the Macao SAR government attaches great importance to technological innovation. The establishment of the Macao Intellectual Property Services Center at MUST has strengthened Macao’s innovation service capabilities. She looked forward to the Center launching more training and services to support innovation and development of universities and enterprises in Macao.
Intellectual property serves as a bridge between university technological innovation and industrial economic development, and is a key channel for the commercialization of research results. In 2018, MUST established the Macao Intellectual Property Research Center, a key research partner base of humanities and social sciences under the Ministry of Education of China, focusing on IP academic research. The newly founded Macao Intellectual Property Services Center emphasizes IP practice. The two centers will complement each other, supporting MUST’s research and innovation while strongly promoting the transfer and transformation of scientific achievements.
Relying on MUST’s professional team and patent literature resources, the Macao Intellectual Property Services Center will focus on:IP application and registration counseling, IP information services, IP asset management and technology transfer, IP policy analysis and interpretation, full‑cycle innovation guidance, and IP‑related training. It will serve the innovation and disciplinary development of MUST. As Macao’s first IP service center, it will also provide support to all local higher education institutions and relevant enterprises.Within 3 to 5 years, the Center aims to become a high‑level, influential IP service hub in Macao and the Guangdong‑Hong Kong‑Macao Greater Bay Area, and strongly boost Macao’s technological innovation and appropriate economic diversification.
